So great! Thanks for this! Ok.I've said it before and I'll say it again...it's like you know what you're doing or something. :) I'd like to know if I could commission one of these from you for my own classes...only I might modify the 'sharp pencils' to "BYVOP" as in, 'Bring your very own pencil'. Constant - and I mean day after day after day pencil snatching/losing/trading/requesting/sharpening going on in my classes. Seems a large part of social interaction is shaped around the pencil trade in grade 6. *sigh* :) -jen
Teaching in the classroom next to Steven, I can say with 100% certainty that he absolutely knows what he's doing!
You have this casual, confident and no-nonsense air about you. When we chat about class management and talk about certain students with behavioural issues, you always have amazing suggestions and tricks up your sleeves. I remember talking with you about keeping a class after school and how only half of the students showed up for detention (all the well-behaved students, of course). You suggested hunting down the students, in whatever classroom they might be at the end of day, and reminding them they are expected in your class. I think that is brilliant! Then my AT added that one might even keep the students in the seats where you find them (another teacher's classroom).
I love these conversations we have at school!Being able to talk with you about class management is a great weight off my shoulders.

ReplyDeleteone of these i will make tomorrow for you.
suggestion: "bring pencil" instead of byvop to maintain the 2 word gimmick.
